1   Who may become a member of the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers?

 
Regular membership is open to:
  • Engineers who have graduated from a domestic or foreign university or institution of higher learning (Fachhochschule).
  • Persons (both natural persons and legal entities) interested in technical sciences related to the discipline of automotive engineering.
     
Students may become members :
  • Students enrolled in universities of technology of institutions of higher learning for a maximum period of five years.

2   What advantages does membership offer?


  • ÖVK members are the first ones to receive information on ÖVK lectures and symposia as well as all other automotive engineering events.

  • ÖVK members can access the membership domain on the homepage www.oevk.at where they will find the latest scientific and research reports and can download the texts of all ÖVK reports of the lecture series "ÖVK lectures followed by discussion" that have been made available by the lecturers.
    ÖVK members who have no access to the internet, can obtain theses texts in paper form from ÖVK.


  • ÖVK members will receive the magazines published by ARBÖ and/or ÖAMTC as well as the magazines “Automotive Engineer” (The leading Magazine for all Auto_Motive Engineers) and “Auto Technology” (The international Magazine for Engineering, Production and Management).
  • ÖVK members will receive invitations, calls for papers and the programmes of national and international lectures, seminars and conferences.


  • ÖVK members will receive documents and brochures made available to ÖVK for its members by other companies and organisations.

  • ÖVK members will benefit from reduced participation fees for ÖVK events.

4   What are the membership dues?


The amount varies with the type of membership.

The annual dues for regular members are as follows:

  • € 260,- for legal entities (companies)
  • € 55,- for natural persons
  • € 20,- for students
Corresponding members pay no membership dues.

5   Do students have to pay membership dues?


Students pay a reduced annual membership fee of € 20,-.
Students have to furnish proof of their enrolment (confirmation of registration at a university or institution of higher learning)

6   How can I become a member of the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers?


The application for membership the Austrian Society of Automotive Engineers has to be made in writing; as an annex, evidence must be furnished that the candidate meets all admission criteria.
The Board of the Austrian Association of Automotive Engineers will decide whether the candidate is admitted or not.

7   What are the obligations of the members of the Austrian Society of Automotive      Engineers?


All members of the ÖVK have the following obligations:

  • Promoting the objectives of the association
  • Preserving the reputation of the engineering profession
  • Punctual payment of the membership dues

8   How do I obtain access to the restricted members area?


Everyone who joins the Austrian Association of Automotive Engineers as a member receives a membership card containing all the relevant information. The access data and the membership card are valid until termination of membership.

9   How do I terminate my membership?


Termination of membership and thus of all rights and duties associated with it, except for membership fees that have fallen due by that date, takes effect

  • upon withdrawal
  • upon exclusion
  • upon the death of a member
  • upon dissolution of a legal entity
Members can withdraw from the Austrian Association of Automotive Engineers at the end of a year providing they have given at least three months' advance written notice and can provide evidence of this fact.
Members can be excluded upon proposal of the Board by vote of the General Assembly.
